This reading-based project provides a visual representation that aids the user in understanding David Hu's explanation of what allows water striders to glide across water. Based on his equation involving mass, gravitational acceleration, surface tension and contact perimeter, we can determine whether a water strider is actually able to stride across the water. By manipulating these elements, the user can see which factors are most influential, and whether the situation they designed causes the water strider to sink or swim.
